Do you have a family member, a friend, a neighbor in the Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Brookhaven area who is aged 55 or over and living in their own home?

FINALLY…. Perimeter North Villages (PNV) is HERE!!!

Do you have a family member, a friend, a neighbor in the Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Brookhaven area who is aged 55 or over and living in their own home?  Are they beginning to face challenges in simple home maintenance tasks?  Do they sometimes need transportation to doctors or shopping?  Are they spending more time alone or not eating properly?  The Perimeter North Villages was created just to meet the needs of older adults who want to remain independently in their own homes but are beginning to need a little help.

Members of Dunwoody UMC have joined with other Methodist churches to form this new network to provide “creative ways” to help us age gracefully in place…living vibrant, active, healthy lives, while still remaining in our homes.  The service area includes any one 55 years and older and living in zip codes:  30319, 20328,30338, 30341, 30342, 30350, 30360.

Our not-for-profit villages serve as a provider and liaison to meet the needs of our members in areas such as

  • transportation by volunteer driver to and from church, doctor appointments, grocery stores, etc. (One trip to a doctor with an outside vendor might cost $40. to $60.if privately arranged.  We do it for free!)
  • general help around the house such as light chores and simple maintenance  (What would a handyman charge to change

           your smoke detector batteries?)

  • pet care and dog walking
  • simple personal services (non-medical)
  • meal preparation or delivery
  • regular educational and/or special social events
  • scheduled check-in calls…

 to name just a few.

Most services are provided free of charge by other village members and volunteers. But PNV also provides a list of approved vendors for services not filled by volunteers. Many of these fee-for-service vendors [painters, plumbers, electricians, accountants, attorneys, computer repair, appliance repair, lawn care/landscaping, handymen, etc.] do so with a discounted rate for members. By relying on this mix of paid and volunteer help, members receive assistance similar to what they might receive in a retirement community, but at home.

Our PNV members pay an annual fee of $400 per individual and $200 for each additional household member.  A monthly payment by credit card schedule is available.

I urge you to consider the value of a membership as a gift for a loved one or friend.

Don’t know of anyone but have a heart for older adults?  Then why not consider becoming a volunteer?
