Donaldson-Bannister Farm now open as a city park

More than 150 years ago, William James Donaldson, a Confederate soldier paroled after the Battle of Vicksburg, came home from the war. While the war raged on, he acquired land in what is now Dunwoody and began to make it a farm. There, with his own hands and the help of friends and family, he built a house, a barn and several outbuildings. Thanks to his hard work, his farm grew to 1,000 acres.
