Dunwoody High School Sports Update

The following is a excerpt from the Dunwoody High Newsletter:

Varsity Boys Soccer

Congratulations to the Varsity Boys Soccer on another successful season with a 9-6-3 overall record. The Wildcats finished the season strong going 5-1-1 in their last seven games. During that span they competed in the Smoky Mountain Cup tournament where they went 2-0-1 and finished runners up in their bracket.

After the tournament the Wildcats defeated Roswell on Tuesday night 3-2. Will Lamb scored a goal and an assist, Chris Loja and Alex Lordo each scored a goal, and Jordi Orellana had an assist.

On Thursday night they played their final game of the season at West Forsyth but fell 2-1. Will Lamb scored the lone goal which was assisted by Lucas Federico. This is the fourth consecutive season with a winning record for the Wildcats, a feat that has only been done three times in school history.

Special accolades to Junior Daniel Aguilar who made the 4-6A 2nd Team All Region along with Seniors Miles Scharf, Will Lamb, Alex Lordo and Caleb Boggs as honorable mentions. Thanks to all Wildcat Nation for your support and making this season a great one to remember.

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls that made the 2024 Region 4-AAAAAA All Region Soccer Teams!

1st Team: Anna Kate McGee
2nd Team: Ella Ryan, Ella Swilley
Honorable Mention: Izzy Henderson, Lindsey Lampron

JV Boys Soccer

Congratulations to the Boys JV Soccer Team for winning the Smoky Mountain Cup tournament over Spring Break. The boys dominated the showcase division, scoring 13 goals and only conceding 1 over 3 games. The boys conclude their season winning 10 straight for a final overall record of 9-2-1. The future is bright for soccer at Dunwoody!

Girls and Boys Golf

Last week the boys and the girls played in the County Golf Championship looking to continue their dominance over the field as they have displayed for a long time now. And they did just that!

The girls led by captain’s Amelia Mutert, Cora Webster and Madeline Vicine along with junior Adelyn Pearson and seniors Gretchen Springer and Addison Embs played their best round of golf in their high school careers! They blew away the field shooting a 305 and no other team was even close.

The boys took 2nd place by one stroke in a very tight battle with Lakeside. The boys were led by Captain Jackson Madden and teammates Reece Thompson, Bradley Stone, Joey Wirka, Harrison Carter and Jake Kelemen.

Cheese steaks were had by all! Their area tournament is on April 22nd in Villa Rica.

Varsity Baseball

Congrats to the Varsity Baseball Team on clinching a playoff spot with a sweep of Riverwood this past week!  It was a full team effort, with all players hitting, led by Alton Mamaghani, Zach Paulling and Matt Pearch. Michael Gregozeski contributed big time as well with a 3-run HR. Matt Pearch, Connor Smith, Will Fairris, Ryan Davies, and Tyler Sleep dominated on the mound to secure the wins.

Come out Wednesday for the final home game against Marist. Let’s go Wildcats!
