The Fault in Our Stars – Audra’s Movie Review

I’m a nerd that would rather curl up with a good book than do almost anything…so needless to say, I’ve read a lot of books.   I’m not speaking lightly when I tell you that  The Fault in Our Stars is one of my top 5 favorite books ever.  I was feeling a little apprehensive about seeing the movie because to me, the movie is never as good as the book.   I’m thrilled to report that in this case…the movie was absolutely as good as the book.  I’ve never seen a movie that was so true to the book.  I took a personal party of 7 with me to see the movie last night and all but one had read the book.  Those who had read it….completely agree with me.  This movie is AWESOME!   I’m predicting GINORMOUS box office success!

tfiosMy party along with a several hundred other fans were treated to a live Q & A with:

We also heard live performances from  Birdy and Nat and Alex Wolff (The Naked Brothers Band).  Both were entertaining but Birdy blew me away!

I could write a whole other review about the experience “after the movie” but I’ll just sum it up to say that teenage girls LOVE the movie, ADORE John Green, screamed FRANTICALLY at the sight of all the stars….and sobbed like crazy during the movie!

I just can’t emphasize enough that you should read the book AND see the movie.  You’ll probably cry but you’ll think about it for days.   My favorite Q&A response from last night was when the author said that his intention in writing the book was to convey that a life shortened by a cancer death sentence can still be significant, fulfilling, inspiring and marvelous no matter how short it is.   Hazel Grace and Augustus will certainly teach you that…GO.  SEE.  IT!!! (and bring plenty of tissues)
