Volunteers will assemble over 300,000 meals for Stop Hunger Now

FOODSTOCK-AHA-590-Graphic DUMC and Simpsonwood UMC will partner to pack over 300,000 meals for Stop Hunger Now.Volunteers set up and take down packaging stations and equipment, fill bins with raw ingredients, scoop ingredients into meal bags, weigh and seal the bags, box and stack them on pallets, and load the pallets and equipment onto a truck. Visit www.foodstock.us for more details and to register.

WHAT:          FoodStock 2016: Over 1,200 community volunteers will work together to assemble 300,000+ dehydrated meals for children in need across the globe. This will hopefully match or eclipse the largest efforts of its kind in metro Atlanta for Stop Hunger Now each of the past three years as the church and community has packaged over 1,400,000 meals for Stop Hunger Now during the previous five years.  With a successful FoodStock event this year, we will hope to be nearing the 2,000,000 meal mark in our history with Stop Hunger Now.  Come and be a part of this wonderful event.

Volunteers will form large assembly lines for the work.  This will fill over an entire shipping container (20 tons of food) and it will be shipped immediately to those in need.  The meals are made of rice, soybeans, vegetables and 21 essential vitamins.  Stop Hunger Now primarily targets children through school lunch programs but will also expand to the community it is serving based on need.
