Hikes For Health Challenge Promotes Physical & Mental Health

Dunwoody, Ga. — The Dunwoody Nature Center has joined forces with 9 other Atlanta-area organizations, REI, and Kaiser Permanente to encourage the public to hike, walk, or jog 10 trails in their 10 greenspaces over 10 months with the Hikes for Health Challenge. The Challenge, which launched in August during National Wellness Month, is a great way to explore local trails as part of a prescription for better physical and mental health.

Participating greenspaces include: Blue Heron Nature Preserve, Chastain Park Conservancy, Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy, Chattahoochee Nature Center, Dunwoody Nature Center, Friends of Lost Corner, Livable Buckhead, Parks Cobb County, Peachtree Creek Greenway, and Sandy Springs Conservancy.

Each greenspace submitted one trail for the Hikes For Health Challenge.  When you visit the Dunwoody Nature Center, be sure to hike The Eagle Trail.  Built by Eagle Scouts, this 1 mile trail is just one of several that travel through 22 acres of forest, wetlands and along Wildcat Creek.  Our trails are open everyday and there is no fee for admission.

The Dunwoody Nature Center is offering two events in November to promote the Hikes for Health Challenge:
