Holiday Lights returns to Brook Run Park

Dunwoody Parks & Recreation will also celebrate the season with a letter-writing campaign for seniors and Santa.

Dunwoody, GA – November 9, 2021 – Dunwoody Parks & Recreation will bring in three times as many lights as last year for this year’s Holiday Lights, a brilliant, walk-thru display at Brook Run Park for all to enjoy. Opening night festivities will take place on Dec. 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. Dunwoody Mayor Lynn Deutsch will flip the switch on the lights at 6 p.m.

“We thought last year’s Holiday Lights would be a one-time celebration because of COVID. However, the event was so successful and loved by our community that we’ve decided to make it a new tradition,” said Mayor Deutsch.

This year’s display will feature 75,000 lights that will shine nightly in the park through Dec. 27. The theme is Hollywood Holidays with decorations inspired by popular holiday movies. Opening night on Dec. 1 will include free hot cocoa and appearances by holiday characters roaming around the playground.

In addition to lights, Dunwoody Parks & Recreation will also mark the season with two letter campaigns.

  1. Letters to seniors: Send some cheer to brighten the holidays for residents of Dunwoody assisted-living communities. Drop off letters at the N. Shallowford Annex (4770 N. Shallowford Road) or Spruill Arts Center (5339 Chamblee Dunwoody). Letters will be accepted Monday through Friday from Dec. 1 until noon on Dec. 23. Look for the festive mailboxes.
  2. Letters to Santa: Children can send messages and pictures to Santa by emailing Santa.Claus@dunwoodyga.gov. Santa will respond with a personalized, mailed letter all the way from the North Pole. Please include the child’s name and return mailing address in the email. Messages will be accepted from Dec. 1 until Dec. 19.
