Holiday Shopping Safety Tips

Since Christmas and Hanukkah are right around the corner, women are bustling all over the city buying gifts for their loved ones.  With so much to do and so little time, it is easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle.  Unfortunately, they are often the victims of crimes due to carrying an access of expensive presents, cash or multiple credit cards.The Sandy Springs Gun Club and Norcross Gun Club wish to promote awareness and have compiled a list of ways to stay alert this holiday season.  Here are the top 10 tips to help prevent crime and increase a shopper’s safety and wellness while holiday shopping: 

  1. Park in well-lit areas and avoid parking garages that have dark corners and blind spots.
  2. Once you are safely in your car, make sure you lock the doors.
  3. Make sure all packages and valuables are out of sight in parked cars. 
  4. Never put a purse or wallet in a shopping cart or basket while shopping.
  5. Carry a limited amount of cash on your person or in your purse.
  6. Keep copies of important documents in a separate safe location.
  7. Walk to vehicles with keys already in hand.
  8. Place children in vehicle wait to buckle them after you have entered vehicle and locked the doors.
  9. If something does not feel right, report it promptly to store management or law enforcement. 
  10. Do not be afraid to ask security or someone you know to escort you to your car.
