Position Overview: The Kids Lower Grades Support Coordinator role works with ages 2-2nd grade. This role is an integral part of connecting with the youngest church attenders and their parents to kick off a strong relationship with God and the church at a formative part of their lives. Dunwoody United Methodist Church is a dynamic, faith-based community committed to sharing the love of God for the transformation of the world. Our staff represents a diversity of spiritual beliefs-membership in the Methodist denomination is not required for most positions.
Duties/Responsibilities:
-Support and Lead Preschool Wednesday Morning Chapel by coordinating Clergy Staff, performing dance moves to songs, and editing lessons for the weekly event.
-Interface between Nursery Staff and Kids staff to ensure Sunday Morning nursery flows smoothly, has enough supplies, and connects parents to the larger church.
-Assist with planning and executing all major Faith moments and events, such as VBS/VBX, Third Grade Bible presentation, and major Holiday celebrations with the larger Kids team.
-Rotate with other staff members to serve as a Kids Worship Leader and Large Group leader on Sunday Mornings.
-Help recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers for Sunday Morning Sunday School along with the Upper grades Support Coordinator.
-Foster an atmosphere of love, respect, and spiritual growth among children and staff.
Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree Strong Christian faith and alignment with the church’s religious values and mission.
-Proficient with technology, including Google Suite (Sheets, Docs and Drive), Microsoft office (Excel, Word and Powerpoint), Meta Business Suite and Canva
-Strong knowledge of child development; ability to present to young kids and maintain the attention of groups of children; enjoyment of serving with kids required.
-Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to multitask and manage resources effectively.
Physical Demands
-Be able to lift/carry up to 30 pounds and be able to be at eye level with children.
Hours:
-This is a part-time (20 hours) in-office role with most hours being served at the church. Sundays (8:30am-12:30pm) and Wednesdays (8:30-12:30) are required with remaining office hours being
determined to a negotiable schedule upon hiring.
