Learn About Dunwoody’s Spooky Past at the Boy Scout Haunted Farm Tour

2015 Haunted Farmhouse FlierFind giggles and surprises around every corner, as Boy Scout Troop 477 brings to life the spooky legends of the Dunwoody at the Haunted Farm Tour, Saturday, October 25 from 3:00pm to 9:00pm at the Donaldson-Bannister Farm (corner of Chamblee-Dunwoody and Vermack Roads). In addition, a Costume Parade with prizes starts at 5:00pm. Don’t miss Dunwoody’s favorite Halloween tradition. This year’s Haunted Farm Tour will give you a glimpse of the history of Dunwoody’s infamous farmhouse. You’ll meet train conductor Ike Roberts, Mr. Donaldson and Mrs. Bannister and hear ghost stories, learn about grave robbers and what it was like to amongst these legends. In addition to the “haunted” garden tour, you can play games, hear live music, much on s’mores, grab a bite in the food court, and enjoy this fun family-friendly setting (perfect for kids elementary school age and younger). Hosted by Boy Scout Troop 477, this is a fundraiser to help send boys to summer camp. Scholarships for boys that cannot afford to participate. “Last year we had more than 1,500 people come and enjoy the festivities,” said Barry Deutsch, assistant scoutmaster for Troop 477. “And this year, we are expecting another big crowd, so will have even more food, more games and more fun.” If a walk with the spirits isn’t enough, a large field will feature more than 20 games and crafts, along with face painting, pumpkin decorating and “make your own” air rockets. There will also be a campfire for roasting the perfect s’more on a chilly October evening. An expanded food court will feature everything needed to feed hungry ghouls, including burgers, turkey legs, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, pretzels, fresh baked cookies, and funnel cakes. Plenty of free parking is available at Independence Square (corner of Chamblee Dunwoody at Peeler) with regular shuttle bus service. Additional parking just down the street at the Vermack Swim Tennis center. Boy Scout Troop 477 thanks its sponsors, including Smurti Corp. for supplying the food court.
