Alpharetta, Ga. – Eight Atlanta-area North Point Ministries churches (North Point Community Church in Alpharetta, Browns Bridge Church in Cumming, Buckhead Church in Buckhead, Decatur City Church in Decatur, Gwinnett Church in Hamilton Mill and Sugar Hill, Woodstock City Church in Woodstock, and East Cobb Church in Marietta) are proud to announce their Creative Services team won a 2021 Southeast Emmy® award for a video honoring Martin Luther King Jr. and titled “I Have a Dream”.

Featured in church services, online streams, and social media leading up to Martin Luther King Jr. Day in 2020 and 2021, the two-minute-long video reflects on the life and powerful impact of the civil rights leader. It tells the story of how a young boy’s preparation for his school’s history night results in an encounter with history itself.

Mallory Clark, who was the writer, creative director, and editor for the video said the idea came while she was listening to a recording of Dr. King’s historic “I Have a Dream” speech.

“I was very moved, and the idea came together quickly after that” Clark said. “It was an honor to be a part of this project.”

Filmed at the School Street Playhouse, in Cumming, the video production involved the work of a team that included church staff, cultural and historic consultants, a cast of actors, and many local volunteers serving as extras.

The video was a winner in the Historic/Cultural – Short Form Content category of the 2021 Southeast Emmy® Awards awarded by the Southeast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences via a virtual gala on Saturday, June 19.
