Mother’s Day Pop-Up Shop

LaAmistad and Solidarity Sandy Springs are teaming up for the 2nd Annual Mother’s Day Pop-Up Shop in Sandy Springs on Saturday, May 13th from 2 pm – 5 pm. The event allows children from lower-income and single-parent homes the opportunity to pick free gifts for their moms from a fun and unique assortment of donated items, including small housewares and decor, clothes, costume jewelry, stationery, and other bits and bobbles.

Solidarity Sandy Springs, the event’s organizer and local non-profit that operates a food pantry at Sandy Springs United Methodist Church, will have volunteers to assist the children in selecting presents and a wrapping station for an extra special touch. LaAmistad, another non-profit serving the community through afterschool programming and adult education, will host the event again this year at its community center located at 120 Northwood Drive, Suite 120. LaAmistad will have staff on hand to supervise fun activities and share information on community resources available in the area. Last year’s Pop-Up saw over 300 attendees and gave away hundreds of items.

Residents of Sandy Springs and surrounding communities are invited to support this wonderful event by cleaning out their gift closets and donating new or very gently used items to make Mother’s Day special for hardworking moms and their children alike. Donations may be dropped off at the LaAmistad Community Center on Saturday, May 6th from 8:30 pm – 2 pm or Monday, May 8th , and Wednesday, May 10th from 9 am – 1:30 pm. The Community Center is also open for ESL classes, Adult Education courses, and community events that can be found on LaAmistad’s website.
