My kids talked me into the monthly Apple Music fee over a year ago. We love it but it certainly isn’t free. We’ve also tried Spotify but the boys prefer Apple Music. I personally use the free version of Pandora as much or more than Apple Music. My Dad sent me a link to an article in CNET that cites a few smaller FREE music streaming providers that are apparently worth looking into:
So, my question is this….how do you stream music? What company/app do you use and why? Do you still buy vinyl or CD’s? Do you buy songs on iTunes and just listen to your personal library? Please share by leaving a comment on this post!
Pandora, from my smart TV, my cell phone and my ipod.
I use both Pandora (free version) and my own library of music. Some of it is music I downloaded from iTunes and burning CD’s. I listen to Pandora at work and have several stations on shuffle.
Amazon Music. It is included with Amazon Prime memberships, you access it through it’s own app and log in with your Amazon Prime user ID and password. My favorite station is “Top Pop (clean)”. It doesn’t play the explicit lyrics, so I can listen to it safely with my kids.
Pandora
Spotify bc you can build custom playlists ( i have a “run”, “moody” “party” list). From computer and phone. Its great about suggesting similar artists and playlists. Free with minimal ads but you can watch a short video periodically to get 30 free minutes. I also use pandora occasionally but that just chooses the genre and like songs so i like that when i feel random
You know Doug and Josh curate their own DUMC contemporary worship playlist on Spotify.
I tend to use Pandora a lot (free) although my older sons like Spotify. I also have my own iTunes account with over 2,000 songs I listen to. Will have to try Amazon Music since I’m a Prime member.
Alexa is the best! Amazon prime has a ton of music.
Amazon Music. Love it and included with Prime! No ads and won’t “time out” like free Pandora.
Pandora at home and radio and previously purchased CDs in the car.
I Heart Radio – there’s always a station that makes a good playlist for any occasion
Spotify has a super reasonable family plan!
Slacker radio in the car. Free Pandora at home. Yes I buy iTunes. Not many CDs, but so me. Also listen to my iTunes
Mainly in my car when I am driving around- CDs or radio
At home I put on FISH RADIO 104.7 on the computer- we are not very techy here
Very old school–mostly listen to radio. Some pandora listening, also. Sometimes still buy CD’s.
Our family listens to Pandora. But we do not subscribe to get the ad free version. We also download iTunes to create our own music library. We have not purchase CDs in God knows how long. Otherwise if we are in the car we may listen to the radio 96.1 or 104.7 and now a little NPR
XM in the car, Spotify at home and work. I tried Amazon when it first launched but I didn’t love it and kind of forgot about it. I’ll have to give it another try.
XM in the car and iPhone downloaded from itunes.
I’m so old school. I listen in the car to the radio. I’m not a CD buyer or downloader for music.
Good morning! I use my ipod in my car 90% of the time. I have downloaded over 500 songs from iTunes over the past 10 years and play the music through my car speakers. I can also stream music through my phone in my car with IHeart radio and Pandora. And I also have Sirius XM that I listen to?
Color my music listening habits Antiquated! I listen to the FM radio in my car, CDs in my home office and occasionally the music channels on cable.
Sirius radio
I’m rather old-school- I listen to music in the car and sometimes on the music channel on our direct tv when I’m exercising. In my husband’s newer car, we listen to Syrius radio music.
Only in car. 104.7 or occasionally a disc.
I listen to CDS at home and radio in the car.
mostly wabe live stream on my phone, but also iheart radio on my phone. Haven’t bought a CD in years. We get new music from spotify.
I typically listen to satellite in the car, Pandora in my house, and whatever songs I have stored on my phone when I’m out and about.
We have a Spotify family account so we can listen on multiple devices at the same time.
We subscribe to Google Play Music family plan. I researched it before picking it, but can’t really remember all the reasons behind the choice, other than the library of included music is huge. I didn’t want to use iTunes because I don’t like the interface for non Apple devices. We have Amazon Prime as well, but the library of free music doesn’t contain many of the artists and songs that I want to listen to.
Just radio, I guess, and whatever is on my now-ancient iTunes. I did buy my oldest daughter (in college) a subscription to Spotify, which she loves. I may check out Amazon Music based on everyone’s suggestions – sounds good since I have Prime, if I can figure out how the ap works! Oh, and also Sirius in my car.
