Offensive lineman forgoes Ivy League to walk on at Georgia

Daniel Gothard’s parents were nervous he would get injured if he played football.

But after Gothard periodically asked his parents about joining Dunwoody High School’s team, they finally agreed, and he played his first season as a high school junior.

“His dad and I did not want him to have any regrets: ‘If my parents had only let me play football, my life would be different,’” said Gothard’s mother, Julie Horowitz.

Now, two years after Gothard attended his first summer workout, the offensive lineman will be walking on to Georgia’s football team under new head coach Kirby Smart.  Continue reading at The Red & Black
