The donated money was raised directly through the school as part of Primrose’s annual Helping Hands Spring Fling Fundraiser.

DUNWOODY, Ga. (August 11, 2016) – Primrose School of Dunwoody, an AdvancED-accredited private preschool, is dedicated to teaching its students about helping others and giving back to the community. This month, the School focused on the Community Assistance Center (CAC), a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose goal is to help individuals and families in need, helping to reduce poverty and building stronger independent families and thus a more stable community in the Dunwoody and Sandy Springs area. Primrose Dunwoody Owners Larry and Lynn Manning met with Tamara Carrera, CEO and Executive Director of CAC, to donate a check for $1933.33.

“Caring and Giving are cornerstone values we teach children at Primrose,” said Lynn Manning. “We believe that character development, along with a robust academic program, is essential to preparing our children for the future.”

The donated funds were raised throughout the spring and early summer months at Primrose Dunwoody. The School held an Original Works art fundraiser, in which students created handprint artwork and parents ordered personalized items emblazoned with their child’s artwork, the proceeds of which were put into to the Spring Fling donation. The remainder of the funds came from the proceeds of Primrose Dunwoody’s annual Spring Fling, a carnival-style event that included bounce houses, raffles, a face painter, a DJ and more. Throughout the fundraising period, students were reminded that the money they raised would help others in need.

Primrose Dunwoody made an equal donation to The Primrose Foundation, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that was created to combine fundraising efforts from individual Primrose schools across the nation. This year, the Primrose Foundation donated funds raised to Save the Children.

CAC was founded in 1987 and has served 16,000 families in the community since its inception. Their mission is to bring together the Sandy Springs and Dunwoody communities to provide compassionate assistance to neighbors in need by providing financial support, helping to meet basic needs and promoting self-reliance.
