Scouts Hold 4th of July Parade Food Drive

The annual Boy Scout rolling food drive to help neighbors in need will take place during the Dunwoody 4th of July parade, so bring the family and bring some food to donate at the parade!

Dunwoody Boy Scout Troop 764 from St. Luke’s Presbyterian will collect food along the parade route for the Community Assistance Center (CAC) Food Pantry. The troop plans to enter a scouting themed float in the parade and will be pushing grocery carts along-side to collect the food donations.

Last year the scouts collected 400 pounds of food from parade-goers. Donations help families and individuals of Dunwoody and Sandy Springs. The CAC Food Pantry receives 1,200 visits a month and provides food to more than 500 families a month. Most of the families CAC helps are working families who are experiencing a difficult time due to job loss or wage cuts. Most needed items include canned meats, canned pastas and canned vegetables.
