SHINE A LIGHT: A Forum on Human Sex Trafficking

Sun, November 4, 2018

5:30 PM – 7:30 PM EST

Human sex trafficking is on the rise in our world, the US and Georgia. Globally, some experts say it’s the 2nd most common crime and annually generates $32 billion for traffickers. We know it’s here in Dunwoody, and law enforcement is preparing for trafficking to increase when the NFL Super Bowl LIII comes to town in 2019. This crime is modern-day slavery and it can impact anyone — boys can be targets as well as girls, and children can be targets as well as adults.

Come hear what to look for, how to protect yourself, what to do if you think someone might be in danger and what we can all do to stop human sex trafficking. Speakers will include human sex trafficking survivors, Wellspring Living CEO Mary Frances Bowley, FBI Special Victims Agent Amanda Gulli, Dunwoody Police Chief Billy Grogan, State Senators Renee Unterman and Fran Millar, and others.

This forum is mainly for teens in 8th – 12th grades (everyone is welcome but the subject may be inappropriate for younger kids). You will have an opportunity to ask the panel questions.
