Spruill Announces Free Art Classes for Grades K-12

Thanks in part to the generous donations from the Belle and Louise Cofer Fund and the

Tomlinson Memorial Foundation, Spruill is pleased to offer free art classes for all children and teen (ages 5-19) programs beginning January 2021.

2020 has been a tough year to say the least – and for our youth in particular. Spruill’s decision to offer free art classes is a way to give back to the community who has been so supportive during the pandemic and helps to fulfill Spruill’s vision of serving as a beacon for the community; providing a ray of hope for the new year.

“We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the incredible generosity and community outreach of the Cofer and Tomlinson families” said Spruill Center for the Arts CEO Alan Mothner.  “At a time when it’s most needed, we are thrilled to be able to offer these in-person classes for our community’s youth and hope that their collective spirit of creativity will continue to uplift us all in the coming months.”

Spruill is currently accepting registrations for winter quarter classes. A registration fee of up to $20 is required for each class and attendance to the first class is mandatory. View the complete list of youth and teen courses at spruillarts.org/youthclassesandcamps.

Since Spruill opened their doors in June, they have taken the necessary precautions to provide a safe and creative environment for their students and instructors. Air purification systems have been installed in every classroom, facemasks are required, class sizes have been reduced to allow for social distancing and classrooms are thoroughly sanitized after each use.

In keeping with their mission of fostering creativity and social connections through the Arts, Spruill hopes to be able to continue providing free youth and teen art classes for the duration of the year and beyond. Donations can be made online to support this program at spruillarts.org/donate.
