Donors and volunteers helped make Community Assistance Center Summer Programs for Kids a success providing local children with lunches during summer school vacation and preparing them for back to school with new backpacks filled with school supplies! With donor support and volunteer manpower CAC provided 700 children in Sandy Springs and Dunwoody with new backpacks custom filled with school supplies per school and grade before the start of school. CAC continues to distribute additional backpacks and school supplies to local schools as needed throughout the school year while supplies last. CAC summer programs for kids addressed hunger among local children during the 8-week summer vacation. CAC’s Summer Lunch Bag program assists families who depend on the free school lunch program to help provide for their children during the school year. CAC distributed 2,086 Summer Lunch Bags containing 5 lunches each, thus providing 10,430 meals to 500 children in Sandy Springs and Dunwoody.
