The DCSD Comprehensive Plan (CMP) is developing options now that will impact all of us. Here’s a quick snapshot of what you should know and how your voice can be heard:

DCSD released recommendations for the Comprehensive Master Plan which impacts all DeKalb schools including the Dunwoody community in Region 1.

A virtual call reviewing the CMP plan is scheduled for next Tuesday, October 26th 6:00pm-7:30pm.Please make every effort to attend this virtual call to learn more and ask questions. You can find the Zoom link on the district’s webpage

The full presentation of the CMP recommendations including proposed changes for Dunwoody and Region 1 can be viewed here.

As of now, the CMP is not finalized; however, it will be in the coming weeks. It is critical to share feedback before 10/31 for your voice to be heard and considered.

Proposed DCSD changes in the CMP to alleviate overcrowding for K-12 grades include:

  •        Convert Austin Elementary from K-5 to K-8 grades
  •        New Dunwoody-Chamblee school (former Shallowford site) K-8th grade
  •        Create early learning center @ Kingsley (redistribute K-5 Students to DES & VES)
  •        New Hightower ES & new Dunwoody-Chamblee school feed to Chamblee cluster
  •        School rezoning may occur for Fall 2023 school year: impacting Dunwoody Cluster

Now is the time to share your feedback.  We urge you to participate in the online surveys before 10/31.

What are some potential Dunwoody community ideas not highlighted in the recommendations to aid overcrowding?

Thank you for being a voice for your children and our community!
