DeKalb County Sanitation Announces New Glass Recycling Program

The DeKalb County Sanitation Division only accept glass recycling items through county-operated glass recycling drop-off containers.

Several large volume county-operated glass recycling drop-off containers have been placed in the City of Dunwoody and will be available for public use starting Monday, July 17, 2017.

GLASS RECYCLING CONTAINER DROP-OFF LOCATIONS IN DUNWOODY

  • Brook Run Park (4770 North Peachtree Road, across from the pavilion)
  • Fire Station #12 (5323 Roberts Drive)
  • Dunwoody Library (5339 Chamblee Dunwoody Road)

This approach will assist with maintaining the integrity of recycled glass, and make this recyclable item a much more marketable and valuable resource.  The placement of glass in curbside single-stream recycling will be discontinued.

The program aims to provide county residents, particularly avid glass recyclers, with an alternative to placing glass in their curbside garbage or single-stream recycling containers, and preserve the integrity of this recyclable resource through the sort-separation process. Beginning July 17, 2017 residents have two (2) options: place glass in household garbage or participate in the County’s glass recycling program.
