If it ever stops raining and warms up, we are going to be wearing shorts before we know it.  That is why I want to discuss the topic of hair removal.  Yes, you read it right, hair removal.  Men, this is for you as well, back hair anyone?  I have tried it all.  Shaving, waxing, Nair (in my teens) and the most costly of them all…..laser hair removal.  I have tried it on my legs, underarms and  the bikini area.  Overall, with laser hair removal, I have been very pleased with the results.  The laser removal worked really well for me as far as the underarms and other “sensitive areas”.  However, what it took to get there was costly, time consuming and a frustrating process…..not to mention that it hurts.  In the world of laser hair removal you have to buy a “series” of 5 or 6 treatments, which they say is on the low end of treatments needed to drastically reduce hair.  Usually it takes 10-12 and by that time you are in the thousands of dollars.  Even with 12 treatments, it is not totally gone and you need to go for “touch ups” at the tune of $50 a session.  So, I am entertaining the thought of an at home hair removal device.  I have caught infomercials and done significant research for both the Tria and the No!No! brands of the “do it yourself” laser hair removal devices. Both have been featured on The Today Show, GMA, The View and The Doctors and they are both around the same price (depending on where you order it online) around $250-$350.  The Tria uses heat and light to remove the hair.  This product has had good results, however it does not work on darker skin tones or lighter hair because it uses light in the process.  The No!No! only uses heat, so you can use it on any skin/hair tone.  I would really like to see how it would work on the legs.  What if we didn’t have to shave our legs, ladies?????   Okay, so I am gonna take the plunge……and soon.  After all the research, I have decided to go with the No!No!.  I will chronicle my experience and get back to you with a full report.

Meanwhile, I’d love to hear your feedback and advice.   Please reply to this post on The Aha! Connection Website with any comments or suggestions.   Or, send me an email!

Until then, get a mani-pedi and don’t forget to wear your lipstick!

  1. The no no “works” by burning off the hair. I returned it after one try because it didn’t actually work, just gave off a nasty burning smell. Don’t waste your money!

  2. I’ve tried all different kids of lasers (gone to 5 different places over the past 4 years or so) for laser hair removal. Bella By Alethea Salon on Wieuca Road in Buckhead is the best! Nicole is who I see and she is great! They have different lasers for different skin and hair types and they know what to use and how to use it to maximize your results. Their prices are very reasonable and they run monthly specials. I highly recommend them. If you’re interested, their number is 678-908-3491.
