Blended: A movie review by Audra

MV5BNzc2ODI5NjAyMl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwMzIyOTE4MDE@._V1_SX214_AL_Audra’s Review:

My husband and I rushed to this screening barely making it on time to get a seat!  We rarely take time during the week for a date night because our kids’ schedules are insane-especially in May when everyone seems to want to have an “end of the year” something!

I’m a huge Adam Sandler fan and my hubby and I were laughing when discussing going to this movie because he said to me:  “Audra, you know we’re old when Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore are in a movie about being divorced/widowed and dating with kids!”   Yes, time is flying and I still think of Adam Sandler every single time I see someone wearing a red hooded sweatshirt.

But I digress…let me tell you about the movie.

The audience was packed…which to me is a good sign that there is tons of interest in the movie.   Secondly, not only did Kirk and I laugh throughout the movie, but the rest of the audience was steadily filled with rip roaring laughter!  It was silly, funny, hilarious, goofy, and had a sweet interesting storyline to follow as well.  We got a huge kick out of the familiar faces that popped up throughout the movie (Dan Patrick, Kevin Nealon, &  Shaquille O’Neal).  I also just realized this morning that Sandler’s wife and kids have guest appearances too!   The Thathoo Harmony Group that spontaneously breaks out into song and dance are hilarious!

Kirk and I thoroughly enjoyed Blended and were very glad that we made the time to rush to see it during the middle of our crazy week.  Laughter is  good for the soul and this movie definitely provides plenty of laughs!  We loved it and my statement to the staffer gathering commentary immediately afterwards was:  “It was adorable!  We loved it.”

I want to offer a note of caution about the PG-13 rating (for crude and sexual content, and language.)   I have kids who are almost 13 and 16 and my hubby and I agree that we wouldn’t allow our youngest to see this movie.  We certainly lean to the conservative side on permission to see PG-13 movies though.    Plugged In provides great movie reviews that explain movie content in full detail.   Once this movie is officially released on 5/23 they’ll have a thorough review that will help you decide whether or not you want to bring your kids.  Don’t let that stop YOU from going though.  It’s really funny!
