Dunwoody Ace Hardware teams up with ServeScape to Enhance Plant Nursery!

by Audra H. Anders for The Aha! Connection

Most people know I love piddling around in my yard.  I’m not an expert on anything except maybe growing zinnias from seed, but I love being outside.  So, when Mario Cambardella contacted me about advertising, I was intrigued to find out more about his business, ServeScape.  I researched and learned all about ServeScape to prepare for our conversation.  But guess what?  Mario didn’t want to promote HIS business…he wanted to help out our local Dunwoody Ace Hardware instead!  Well, you can find me at our Dunwoody Ace AT LEAST once per week, so I was all in to help!

Mario Cambardella

First let me tell you a bit about Mario Cambardella.  It seems like I can find a connection with anyone who lives around here.   His mother-in-law is Liz Green who has worked at Dunwoody Baptist Preschool (my kids’ preschool) for many years and his sister-in-law (Candace Green Johnston) was my youngest child’s four-year-old teacher!  He went to Riverwood High School, was an Eagle Scout in Troop 370 and is a graduate of the University of Georgia.

Mario founded ServeScape in April of 2020.  The simplest way to describe ServeScape is Uber Eats for your landscape.  You can simply order plants online, have them delivered, and install them yourself.  Or you can “order” landscape design and installation.  They partner with farmers across Georgia to supply Atlanta (and Athens) residents with access to beautiful food-producing, pollinating, and native plants.  I was entertained for about an hour just browsing plants on their site!

The following 4-minute YouTube video is presented by Mario and is a great overview of ServeScape.

Now, back to our Dunwoody Ace…..Mario has partnered with Dwight Glover, the owner of Dunwoody’s Ace Hardware.  Through their affiliate partnership, Ace now offers hundreds of plants online with real-time inventory and pricing, as well as home delivery.  Customers can view plant selections and purchase online through Dunwoody Ace’s website.  After purchase, plants are delivered straight to the customer within a week of ordering.  All plants are healthy, sustainable, and sourced locally.

Use promo code: FREEDELIVERY for free delivery of your first order until January 1st, 2022!

Join me on this upcoming Saturday, November 6th from 11AM to 2 PM at Dunwoody’s Ace Hardware.  Mario and Dwight are planning a fun event to celebrate their new partnership.  The ServeScape team of horticulturalists will be exhibiting a few plant collections including: deer resistant plants”, “shade loving perennials” and “sweet smelling shrubs”.

Meanwhile, I asked Mario about a few of his fave plants just for fun:

Fave Tree:  Pear Tree (not Bradford Pear) – (He has a daughter named Perry)

Fave Shrub:  Blueberry Bush

Fave Perennial:  Apricot Fall Mum

Fave Annual:  Georgia Football Season (LOL…he prefers edible plants or perennial’s because they come back year after year)

Fave Vine:  Carolina or Star Jasmine
