We are now accepting applications for the first scheduled Citizens’ Police Academy in 2019!
The Dunwoody Police Department welcomes residents of Dunwoody, along with Dunwoody business owners, to attend this free program designed to give participants the opportunity to learn about various functions of police work through classroom lectures, training scenarios and off-site tours of partner locations, such as ChatComm/911. The academy will begin on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 and run for ten weeks (with a one-week break during the DeKalb County Spring Break).
Each class will be held at the Dunwoody Police Department, located at 4800 Ashford Dunwoody Road. We will start each night at 6:00pm and end at approximately 9:00pm. Topics that will be covered include, but are not limited to, CRASE, North Metro SWAT, Narcotics, Gangs, Criminal Investigations, Uniform Patrol, Use of Force and ChatComm/911.
The program is open to Dunwoody residents and Dunwoody business owners 21 years of age or older. Applicants must be willing to submit to a criminal history check and a driving record check prior to being accepted as a Citizen’s Police Academy student. The class is limited to 24 participants who will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
