An Aha! Connection “Style Moment” – Nail Polish Update plus Favorite Beauty Products

AHA_StyleMoment_Logo2An update from the Aha! Connection’s Style Editor….I can assure you it is NOT me (Audra) but a much more stylish friend of mine! I’ve just read this myself and need to go out and purchase a few of these!   I’m proud to say that I already have the mascara and hairbrush and wholeheartedly agree with our Style Editor’s comments!

Update on Nail Polish!

Okay, the first Aha! Style Moment was so much fun.  It seems that there are lots of people that love nail polish as much as me!  As promised I have tested several different polishes since we last touched base on the subject.  Here is what I found:

Berlin There Done That by OPI:  It seems our good friend “You Don’t Know Jacques“, has some cousins out there.  “Berlin There Done That” is a lighter version of Jacques.  I have been wearing it as a neutral and the thing I love about it, is that when you are wearing black it turns slightly grey, and when wearing browns I think it goes more beige.  This is a great color that I have really enjoyed.  Another honorable mention that seems to be a cousin of Jacques is Miss Fancy Pants by Essie.  Very similar to BTDT, but maybe a touch more subtle….

Nein! Nein! Okay Fine by OPI:  Love this dark dramatic color for the season.  It differs from it’s relative Lincoln Park After Dark, in that it is not as black.  It is dark polish that has a hunter green undertone that is dramatic but elegant at the same time.  It is definitely a winter color and would be great for the holidays.

My Funny Valentine by Deborah Lippmann:  This is my most favorite red polish ever.  It is not too blue and not too orange, it is JUST RIGHT and so feminine.  Sometimes reds can look great the first day and then fade into a different color in two days.  Not My Funny Valentine, it stays the most vibrant red and makes me so happy to wear it!  This brand of polish is a little more pricey and hard to find, but the colors are wonderful.  They have it at Nordies at $18 a bottle.  Deborah Lippmann is a celebrity manicurist who launched a nail color line in 1999.  She is also a jazz musician and has been called the “Voice of Color”.  An honorable mention in the Red Department is Head Mistress by Essie.  This red definitely has major blue undertones and goes maroonish, but a great color for this time of year!

Thought I would include some of my favorite beauty products while I am at it!

Elnet Hair Spray by Loreal:  This is my favorite hair spray.  I used to be a devotee of Shaper Plus by Sebastian and I have tried lots of sprays, but his 14 dollar bottle can be found at the grocery store.  It keeps hair in place, but a comb goes through it and it does not produce a brittle feel AT ALL!

Magic Brush by Regency:  This brush is a lifesaver if you have a little girl that fights tangles.  This brush magically goes thru wet or dry hair, without the crying!!!!!  Not sure what the science is behind it, but it works!  This brush can be found at Riley Salon in Dunwoody.

Cover Girl Lash Blast:  Look no further and pay not more than 6.99 for mascara.  It goes on great and stays on, no smudges!  They have it in several different varieties.  The original was in an orange tube, and I go for this one most of the time, but they have them it different varieties: lengthening, volumizing, sparkling, I have tried them all and I love them all.  Need to stock up on the sparkly one for the holidays!  Sometimes Walgreens has them for BOGO and right now Costco has a pack of 3 in a purple tube for a good price. (Sorry, I cannot find my receipt to verify, but I remember feeling good about the price)

Super Goop City Screen Serum:  We need to sunscreen in the summer and winter ladies!  I love this serum so much.  I use it everyday on my face and then when I find myself in a sunny situation, I can relax that my City Screen Serum is doing the job.  It does not feel or smell like sunscreen, goes on so light you forget it is there.  This is my favorite product of this line, but they also have a ton of other great sunscreen products.  They have little portable sunscreen wipes you can keep in your purse for sun emergencies!  These products can be found at Angela Micheal Skincare and Spa, and are very affordable.

I will send some more of my favorite beauty products after the holidays!  Until then, go get your nails done!

PS…Would love to hear some of your favorite beauty products, I will put them to the test!  Or if there are any style/beauty questions on your mind, let’s talk about it!  Email me at stylemoment@theahaconnection.com
