GA cities (including Dunwoody and Sandy Springs) ponder gondolas for public transportation

Say what?

ATLANTA — Some metro Atlanta cities want to see if gondolas can help cure their transportation woes.  The cities of Sandy Springs, Dunwoody and Brookhaven are expected to commission a study of that and other transportation alternatives.

Water main replaced on Chamblee Dunwoody Road

Construction has begun on the water main pipe replacement project along Chamblee Dunwoody Road, from Roberts Drive to Womack Road. Work started at the intersection of Roberts Drive and Chamblee Dunwoody Road and will progress south. Periodic lane closures can be expected 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through Friday. Nandina Lane Road Closing 9-4 weekdays until mid March

Note from Audra: Nandina Lane is the very short road that runs between the Dunwoody Methodist Church property and the small shopping center that houses Dunkin Donuts.

Nandina Lane will be closed to through traffic on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. beginning Thursday, February 25.

Dunwoody Police ticket 18-wheeler driver in crash on Chamblee Dunwoody Road

Dunwoody Police ticketed the driver of an 18-wheeler Jan. 29 for running a red light that led to a crash on Chamblee Dunwoody Road.

The accident happened Friday morning. According to Dunwoody Police, the 18-wheeler was traveling north on Chamblee Dunwoody Road and was approaching the intersection of North Shallowford Road when the driver apparently ran a red light and collided with a sedan that was traveling south on Chamblee Dunwoody Road.… Read More »

  • Addition of several turning lanes at N Peachtree/Tilly Mill and Peeler/N Peachtree
  • Addition of traffic light at N Peachtree/Peeler intersection
  • Water retention pond behind/beside the retirement home
  • Expected to take a year
  • Dunwoody has a no net loss of trees policy and the city will be replanting a huge number of trees in the future because of this project.

Georgia DOT awards contract for I-285/Ga. 400 interchange project

The State Transportation Board voted Thursday to hire North Perimeter Contractors to design, build and partially finance a planned overhaul of the Interstate 285/Georgia 400 interchange.
