The Burger Boy Does Vegas

Spring break in Vegas was a great time.   Where else can you find burgers offered by  several  world famous chefs all in about a 4 mile radius?  Here are the ones I tried, ranked in order starting with the best:

  1. Gordon Ramsay Pub and Grill in Caeser’s Palace

This burger was pretty good and the best one I had in Vegas. Just a grilled beef burger with cheddar and bacon, it was nothing unusual but definitely satisfied my taste. The patty was thick and the bacon was thickly cut and tasty.

  1. Emeril’s Table 10 in The Venetian

Very similar to Ramsay, this burger was simple but still pretty good. The patty was thick and well cooked with a nice bacon marmalade sauce on it. Ramsay’s burger gets the edge because it had really good bacon on it, which always beats a cute marmalade.

  1. Bobby’s Burger Palace (Dallas Burger) located outside the Mandarin Oriental

This restaurant was a slight disappointment. I ordered the Dallas burger with a spice crusted patty, coleslaw, Monterrey jack, BBQ sauce, and pickles. The patty was not very thick or special tasting, and the buns were soggy from the coleslaw. Very average burger.  Dad ordered the L.A. Burger, my brother ordered the Carolina Burger and Mom had the Crunch Burger. Dad’s was the best.   Dad also ordered the best shake…pistachio.  Mom and Dad liked BBP the best because it was definitely the most affordable.

  1. Mario Batali Burger and Beer at The Venetian

This burger should have had a slight advantage over the others, as I was definitely the hungriest before eating this one.  We hadn’t eaten since leaving Dunwoody that morning and it was well past lunch time before we sat down to eat.   Unfortunately, this burger didn’t take advantage of my hunger, nor did it live up to its name: “The Really Good Burger.” Topped with bacon, Gorgonzola, onion, Chianti mustard on a potato bun, this weird combo of ingredients didn’t taste “good” enough to satisfy my hunger.

There were hundreds of burger places that we didn’t have time to try.  We had milkshakes at I Love Burgers in our hotel but didn’t get a chance to eat a burger.  I also had a Kokomo Meatloaf sandwich at Hash Hash A Go Go at The Linq Hotel that was very tasty.   If you’ve had a great burger in Vegas feel free to comment on my post so I can learn your suggestions. Maybe I’ll get to go back again.   Marietta’s own Red Eyed Mule Jake’s Sloppy Slaw Burger puts all these Vegas burgers to shame. I am still waiting for the day when I find a burger tastier than that.
