AUDRA IN THE AMALFI COAST!

Audra has traveled South into the land of the lemons!  The Amalfi Coast, known for their production of limoncello and jaw dropping cliffside views, draws many tourists each year.  And for good reason!  The area offers beautiful beaches, stunning scenery, famous day trips like Capri and fascinating historical sites nearby like Pompeii.

The Amalfi Coast is full of many towns, but the three most famous are Positano, Ravello and Amalfi.  A popular excursion is hiring a driver for the day to visit each one of these beauties!  This is exactly what Audra was doing during her last “Where’s Audra” post.

Which town did Audra stay in, you wonder?  None of them!  Audra and her family stayed in Sorrento, which is not part of the Amalfi Coast but very close.  Sorrento is still along the coast offering beautiful ocean views, but it’s about 35 minutes from Positano.  There are many reasons why some choose Sorrento as their base.  Sorrento is very centrally located with excellent transport links, it’s an easy day trip to visit the Amalfi Coast towns, it tends to be less crowded (especially compared to Positano), but the biggest reason is the cost.  The most popular Amalfi Coast town, Positano, is very expensive!  Your dollar will go much further in Sorrento, which lands many travelers in a beautiful 4-5 star hotel overlooking the Bay of Naples.

Sorrento also offers many beautiful apartments with ocean views and the ability to walk to town.  Audra’s family chose one of my favorite apartment options in Sorrento overlooking the marina.  They were able to spread out in a 3 bedroom apartment allowing each of them some privacy in the middle of their trip.

Audra and her family have moved on to their final stop.  First on their agenda was a Covid test required to re-enter the U.S.  I’m happy to report all are negative!!  Ciao bella until Friday!

Please remember to travel responsibly, wear your mask and reconsider travel if you are elderly or immune-compromised! And remember to check your destination travel restrictions/requirements before and during planning, as well as double-checking before departure!
