If you mourned the closing of Doc Green’s years ago, there’s a new restaurant in town to finally fulfill your custom salad dreams.
Salata, with multiple locations around Atlanta, offers more than 50 different items to build your own salad. From proteins to fruit to vegetables, you can fill your bowl with as many healthy delights as you wish. You’ll find the usual items such as tomatoes, cucumbers and olives, along with pea sprouts, pineapple, sesame sticks and more. House-made salad dressings – vinaigrettes as well as creamy dressings are yours for the choosing, with calorie counts posted. I’ve tried both the herb vinaigrette and ginger lime and they were delicious!
The helpful staff at Salata propel your salad bowl along the line, somewhat cafeteria style, adding all of your choices before giving it a final toss and tallying your total. If you’re looking for more of a sandwich experience, your salad can be wrapped in a tortilla (choice of five flavors). Eat in or take your creation to go.
Their menu also features fresh-baked cookies and three soups – Chipotle White Bean, Broccoli or Tomato Basil. And don’t neglect their options for organic iced teas and lemonades. Prickly pear limeade, anyone?
Based in Houston, Texas, the first Salata opened in 2005 and the concept quickly spread across Texas and beyond. In Atlanta, the company is filling the need for quick, healthy food options for busy families on the go. Catering and online ordering also are available.
There are multiple locations in Atlanta with the most recent opening on Town Center Boulevard just across the street from the Forum in Peachtree Corners. It’s an ideal spot to rejuvenate after shopping and walking around the Forum. Additionally, a Salata can be found adjacent to Avalon in Alpharetta, just one block from the main stretch of shops and with its own ample parking lot.
Find other locations in Sandy Springs, Johns Creek, Marietta, Atlantic Station and downtown. In any direction, Salata is worth the drive for a delightful, healthy meal.
