Some 600,000 people in Georgia remained without power early Wednesday morning, reports 11Alive, Atlanta Business Chronicle’s broadcast partner.
As of 3:59 a.m., 355,091 Georgia Power customers and 236,069 Georgia EMC customers still did not have power.
Georgia Power said via Twitter last night that it has restored power to 525,000 customers.
However, “Some areas have extensive amounts of damage many of which are located in remote or challenging locations,” it said. “We appreciate your patience!”
During the peak hours of the storm Monday, more than 1 million customers across the state were without power.
The largest concentrations of power outages are in coastal Georgia and in metro Atlanta, where high winds Monday downed trees and took down overhead power lines.
