national night outOn Tuesday, Aug. 2, police departments from the cities of Brookhaven, Dunwoody, Sandy Springs and Johns Creek will host the 33rd annual National Night Out (NNO) event. This community event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Perimeter Mall, 4400 Ashford Dunwoody Road .

Sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live. This event involves thousands of communities from all 50 states, United States territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide.

This year, the four hosting police departments will have patrol cars, SWAT vehicles, and other specialty vehicles on display. The Sandy Springs Fire Department and the DeKalb County Fire/Rescue Department will also have fire trucks and other pieces of equipment on display. Police Officers and Fire/Rescue personnel will be on hand to answer any questions related to vehicles, personnel or public safety operations.

In addition to public safety organizations, many local businesses and community groups will have display booths set up, including the Chattahoochee River 911 Authority (ChatComm), the public safety answering point for 9-1-1 calls for the cities of Brookhaven, Dunwoody, Sandy Springs and Johns Creek. Music and entertainment will be provided, along with free food and drinks donated by many local stores and members of the community. This event will be a great opportunity for citizens to interact with members of the public safety community and with other residents.
