| I picked this book out for my 7th grader last summer at one of my favorite nearby bookstores. Words can’t express how I feel seeing him lately with his nose buried deep in this book! My boys read some…but not as much as I’d like. My book purchasing philosophy is: “If you buy them (books) they will come (and read them eventually!)” Since I haven’t personally read the book I chatted with Walt for a while about it last night and asked if he would recommend it for other kids his age. His answer was a resounding “YES!”. He’s going to be so excited when he comes home from school today and I tell him that I discovered that there’s also a movie based on the book that we can rent over the holiday break! It is a novel of survival and adventure. The book begins with the death of young Moon’s father, an anti-government radical who has been living off the land in rural Alabama with Moon for years…. |
